Our Commitment to Privacy
This Privacy Policy applies to dronesales.com.au, an online marketplace operated by Aixel Pty Ltd (ABN 25 688 066 140), trading as dronesales.com.au (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to that information when using our website and services.
We collect a range of personal information necessary to provide our services:
Contact Details: When you register an account or contact us, we collect information like your name, email address, and phone number. If you are a dealership or business, we may also collect your business name and relevant contact details.
Account Information: Login credentials (such as username and password) and profile details you provide.
Listings Content: Information you include in your drone or equipment listings, such as descriptions, prices, locations, and photos of the items. Photos you upload may contain metadata or personal information if not removed.
Payment Information: To process listing fees, we collect transaction details. We do not store your credit card numbers - payments are handled securely by our payment processor (Stripe) on our behalf. (Stripe may collect your card details and billing information to process the payment.)
Usage Data: When you use our site, we automatically collect certain data about your device and browsing. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, clicks, and other usage logs. We use analytics tools (like Google Analytics and Meta Pixel) to gather this information for improving our services and marketing.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: Our website uses cookies and tracking pixels to provide functionality and analyze traffic. Cookies are small files stored on your device that remember your preferences and activity. For example, we use cookies to keep you logged in and to understand how users navigate our site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; however, doing so may affect site functionality.
We use the collected information for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy:
Providing Services: To create and manage your account, enable you to list items for sale, and display your listings to other users. For example, your contact details allow us to identify you and communicate about your listings or account.
Facilitating Listings and Payments: To process listing fee payments via Stripe and keep records of transactions. (Note: Stripe processes payments under its own privacy policy; we share necessary information with Stripe to complete transactions, such as your name, email, and payment amount.)
Communication: To send service-related communications. This includes email confirmations for account registration, receipts for listing fees, notifications about listing status, responses to inquiries, or important updates about our platform. We may also send promotional emails or newsletters if you have agreed to receive them (you can opt out any time via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us).
Analytics and Improvements: To analyze usage of our site and improve our platform. We use data (including via Google Analytics) to understand user behavior and preferences, which helps us enhance site content, features, and user experience. We also use the Meta Pixel and similar tools to help with targeted advertising and measuring the effectiveness of ads (e.g., seeing if users who saw a dronesales ad on another platform visit our site).
Advertising: To serve and measure online advertisements. We may use browsing data and cookies to show you relevant ads for dronesales.com.au on other websites or social media (for example, ads via Google or Meta platforms). Any such usage will be done in compliance with privacy laws and online advertising standards.
Security and Enforcement: To monitor for fraudulent or illegal activity and enforce our Terms & Conditions. For instance, we may review listings and user activities to detect fraud, spam, or violations of our acceptable use policies. If necessary, we use personal information to investigate and take action against fraudulent transactions or misuse of the platform.
Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations. If we are required by law to collect or disclose certain information (for example, for law enforcement requests or tax obligations), we will use and disclose personal information as needed to fulfill those requirements.
We will not use your personal information for purposes other than those above without your consent, unless permitted or required by law. If we ever need to use your data for a new purpose, we will seek your consent or at least ensure it is related to the original purpose of collection.
Cookies: As noted, we use cookies to remember your preferences and sessions, and to collect usage statistics. For example, cookies allow you to stay logged in while browsing and help us recall your site settings (like language or region preferences).
Analytics: We use third-party analytics tools, primarily Google Analytics, to collect information about how visitors use our site. Google Analytics records data such as your IP address, device type, browsing actions, and time spent on pages. This information is aggregated and helps us understand traffic patterns and improve site functionality. The data is generally anonymized and cannot directly identify you in our reports. However, because Google Analytics operates via cookies and internet tracking, some of your personal data (like IP address) may be collected by Google in the process.
Advertising Pixels: We utilize the Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) and possibly other advertising pixels. These tools help us display tailored advertisements to you on platforms like Facebook/Instagram and measure users' interactions with those ads. The pixels may track actions such as when you visit our site or view certain pages, and then allow us to reach you or others like you with ads on the Meta platforms. Data collected through these pixels (e.g. your IP address or device ID and the fact you visited our site) may be sent to Meta's servers, which could be located outside Australia, for processing of advertising analytics.
Your Choices: When you first visit our site, you may see a notice about cookies or tracking. By continuing to use our site, you consent to our use of cookies and tracking as described. You can opt out or control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, but note this may impact certain features of our site (for example, you might not stay logged in). For Google Analytics, you can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent data collection. For Meta Pixel, you can adjust your ad privacy settings on your Facebook/Meta account to control how your data is used for targeted ads. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals, but we treat all users' data with the same high level of privacy protection.
We respect your privacy and do not sell your personal information. However, we do share personal data with third parties in certain circumstances, as outlined below:
Service Providers: We use trusted third-party companies to help us operate and support our platform. This includes web hosting providers, IT support, email and communication services, analytics providers (such as Google), advertising partners (such as Meta for the Pixel), and payment processors (Stripe). These service providers only receive the information necessary to perform their functions and are authorized to use your personal information solely for the purposes of providing their services to us. For example, Stripe will receive your payment details to process listing fees, and our email service will use your email address to send verification or notification messages.
Stripe (Payment Processing): As noted, when you pay listing fees, the payment is handled by Stripe. We provide Stripe with billing information needed to charge your card (such as your card number, expiry, CVV, which you enter on a secure payment form, plus transaction amount and your name/email for receipt). Stripe processes the payment on secure servers. We do not store your credit card details on our systems. Stripe may store your payment details and transaction history on its systems to facilitate billing and for its own record-keeping. Stripe is a third party with its own privacy policy; we encourage you to review Stripe's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle your data. By paying through our site, you consent to our sharing of your data with Stripe for payment purposes.
Legal Requirements and Protection: We may disclose personal information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. For example, if law enforcement or a regulatory authority lawfully requests data (such as information about a fraudulent listing or a user involved in illegal activity), we will provide the necessary data. We may also disclose information to enforce our Terms & Conditions or to protect the rights, property, or safety of dronesales.com.au, our users, or the public. This includes sharing information with authorities or other entities to investigate fraud, security issues, or technical problems.
Business Transfers: If our business undergoes a major change, such as a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or restructuring, user information (which is an asset) may be transferred to the new owner/party as part of that deal. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure the new entity continues to honor the commitments made in this Privacy Policy regarding your personal information.
With Your Consent: In any situations other than the above, if we need to share your information, we will do so only with your consent. For instance, if we ever want to feature your success story or listing on a partner site or in media, we would ask for your permission before sharing any identifying details.
Overseas Disclosure: Some of the third-party service providers we use are located outside Australia. For example, Google, Meta, and Stripe are headquartered in the United States, and data we share with them or that they collect (analytics, pixel data, payment information) may be stored on servers in the U.S. or other countries. By using our site and services, you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred to and stored in overseas jurisdictions. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipients do not breach the Australian Privacy Principles in relation to your information. However, such data will be subject to the laws of those foreign countries. If you would like more information about how these providers handle your data, please refer to their privacy policies or contact us.
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. These steps include technical measures (such as encryption of data in transit via SSL, secure server infrastructure, firewalls) and organizational measures (such as restricting access to personal data only to staff or contractors who need it to perform their duties). For example, our website is SSL-secured to encrypt data between your browser and our server. We also regularly update our systems and train our staff on privacy obligations.
While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You transmit personal information at your own risk, but we will do our best to maintain its security once we have it. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.
We retain your personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including any legal or reporting requirements. For example, we will keep your account information and listing data while your account is active. If you close your account, we may retain certain information for a period of time afterwards if necessary for legitimate business purposes - such as keeping transaction records for accounting, handling disputes, or fulfilling legal obligations (e.g., taxation or fraud prevention).
When personal information is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected, and we are not legally required to retain it, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify the information. In some cases, we may anonymize data (so it can no longer be associated with you) and use it for analytics or statistical purposes.
You have rights to manage your personal information held by us:
Access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you. We will, upon verification of your identity, provide you with access to the information, except where we are permitted by law to refuse (for example, if giving access would unreasonably impact someone else's privacy or if it relates to anticipated legal proceedings). We will respond to access requests within a reasonable time and may charge a reasonable fee to cover retrieval costs if the request is extensive.
Correction: If any personal information we have about you is incorrect, out-of-date, or incomplete, you have the right to request a correction. You can update some information directly by logging into your account (e.g., your contact details). For any other corrections, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to amend our records. If we cannot fulfill your request (for instance, if we disagree that the information is incorrect), we will provide you with a written explanation.
Deletion (Right to Erasure): You may request that we delete your personal information. This can be done by contacting us to close your account or specifically requesting data erasure. We will comply with such requests where we no longer need the information for legitimate business or legal reasons. For example, if you withdraw from our platform and ask for deletion, we can remove or anonymize your profile and listing content. We do not erase your data unless specifically requested by you, so it's important to let us know if you want your information removed. Note that we might retain certain transactional records or communications even after deletion if required for legal, auditing, or fraud prevention purposes - but we will let you know if that is the case. Once your data is deleted, your account will be deactivated and you may lose access to any listings or content you provided.
Opt-Out of Marketing: As mentioned, you can opt out of marketing emails by using the "unsubscribe" link in those emails or by contacting us. Even after you opt out of marketing, we may still send you essential service or transactional communications (for example, an email to confirm a listing or to notify you of changes to our terms or policies).
To exercise any of these rights, please use the contact information in the section below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (to ensure we do not disclose your data to someone else). There is no charge for making a request, but in rare cases we might charge an administrative fee for extremely complex or repetitive requests, as allowed by law. We aim to address all requests promptly and within any timeframes required by law.

The OAIC can be contacted via their website (oaic.gov.au) or telephone on 1300 363 992. We encourage you to contact us first to try resolving any issue before contacting the OAIC or other regulators.
